Pain and gain

She was fighting hard to stay focussed. The pain was excruciating and the effort, exhausting.

Just when she thought she was about to pass out, it happened.

She heard faint gurgling cries, gaining in volume.

Mustering remaining strength, she lifted her head to see her newborn held in bloodstained hands. She had found love. Again.

This was my first attempt at writing 55 fiction. Inspired by an excellent tutorial on Write Tribe by Vidya Sury.
